Dedicated to the memory of Paul Kinghorn

This site is a tribute to Paul Kinghorn.

Paul, with his family by his side, passed away on Thursday 7th January 2021, aged just 34 years.
His wishes of organ donation were granted and he has made his family and friends extremely proud.

Cherished partner and soulmate of Emma, and their special furbaby Fisher the cat,

Dearly loved son of Valerie,

Adored brother of Chris and his wife Aynslie, proud and playful uncle to Eve and Robbie,

Lifelong friend of Michael and Murray.

Paul worked as a clerk at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court as well as being a charity volunteer for many years, in particular the Shelter Charity Shop at Surgeon's Hall.

Despite his big love of food, Paul kept fit and active, going to the gym in particular and even met his beloved Emma whilst they attended an advanced yoga class.

He was classed as a "retired gamer", having a number of consoles and high scores for a ton of games, also enjoyed the more retro side of games - board games - including Dungeons and Dragons. Had a few Nerf guns too that kept Robbie's eyes open. Eve enjoyed giving him a mini-makeover, his nails in particular :-)

Paul was, and will always remain, loved beyond words and will be remembered by so many and in so many different ways.

Thoughts

Oh Paul. I’m still reeling from the news. I enjoyed getting to know you when we were court officers together, and chatting about wrestling and festival shows! And then constantly bumping into you in the corridors and stairwells when we both moved to different buildings - and always seemed to end up in the same place at the same time! I miss our chats in the gym after work and that you would always take your headphones out and come over to say hi, and have a catch up. You were so down to earth and up for trying new things - including when I tried talking you into boxing! I’m sorry I never made it to ‘Piff the Magic Dragon’ that time you had a spare ticket during the festival. It was a privilege knowing you. I’m glad you got your wish to donate your organs and I’ve vowed to go and donate blood as soon as I’m able. And to finally go and check out the mosque kitchen food you often had at lunch! I’ll be thinking of you when I do. Proud of you. My thoughts go out to your family and your partner Emma. I will miss seeing your calm, smiling face :-)

My fondest memories of Paul are... well Paul being Paul! I have never met anyone so relaxed, so level-headed when everything is going to pot, and someone so at peace with themselves (Yep, nobody else could rock an all-Adidas outfit). A fine connoisseur of the lunchtime Edinburgh eatery establishments, I think he pretty much pioneered our office eating out habits. And he was also someone who so easily put up with my carp for years, particularly on nights out! But that is Paul, he is great, and I shall miss him dearly. Ben

Paul. It still does not compute with me that you will no longer arrive at the door. Wherever we were living at the time you were the first to see Murrays new room, his computer, and explore the house. Oh the fun times we all had at parties at our house, drinking and laughing with Michael, Katie, Jamil and Sarah. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and Emma. Rest in peace sweetheart and we will see you again one dad. Elizabeth Murray.
